  • Subsidy scheme approved for electric bikes & rickshaws

    announced

The federal government approved a subsidy programme for electric two- and three-wheelers to accelerate adoption among mass-market buyers. Eligibility, quotas, and disbursement run through the relevant ministry — confirm the current application window before relying on it.

  • Reduced duty & sales-tax treatment for EVs

    active

Electric vehicles attract lower sales tax and import-duty rates than equivalent petrol cars under current federal budget measures. Exact rates change with each finance act — verify with FBR for the current year.

Incentives by vehicle type

Lower sales tax on electric cars

Reduced rate

Battery-electric cars are taxed at a reduced sales-tax rate versus petrol equivalents. The headline rate is set in the annual finance act and differs for locally assembled vs imported units.

Federal Board of Revenue

Lower registration & token tax (province-dependent)

Varies by province

Several provinces and the ICT charge reduced or waived registration and annual token tax on electric vehicles. Benefits vary by province — check your Excise & Taxation department.

Excise & Taxation (Punjab)

Subsidy on electric bikes

Scheme-dependent

Under the 2025 e-mobility scheme, eligible buyers of electric two-wheelers can claim a subsidy. This is the most directly relevant incentive for mass-market buyers; confirm the live application window.

Ministry of Industries & Production

Hybrids sit between petrol and full-electric on duty

Partial relief

Plug-in and conventional hybrids receive partial duty relief relative to petrol cars but less than full EVs. The gap narrows for locally assembled units.
